I am going to show you the two most commonly used ways to cut bell pepper. Depending on what you are using them for will depend on how you want to cut them.

Sliced bell peppers are great on salads or for Mexican night in your fajitas. Whereas diced bell peppers are great in omelets, salsa, or chili.

1. Wash

It is important to always wash your bell peppers before you start to cut into them. You never know what kind of bacteria or pesticides are on them from transport or even just being in the stores. Learn how to tell if bell peppers are bad and what to look for.

Use a fruit or vegetable spray or mild all-natural soap and wash them gently under cold water. After I give them a good wash I make sure to dry them so they do not slip on the cutting board.

2. Cut top and bottom off

Before you start the process you need to make sure that you have a sharp knife. I prefer a sharp chef knife to make sure I get through bell pepper skin.

Cut off the bottom of the pepper and then cut into the top of the pepper going around the stem.

Give the stem a gentle twist and pull and it will pop out with the seeds and insides attached. Do not ditch the top and bottom, you can get some good pepper from it.

3. Cutting into strips

Stand it up on the cut bottom and cut it in half. Now you can get the rest of the white insides cut off and take out any lingering seeds.

Lay the half with the inside facing up, start at one end and cut into strips of your desired width. Go ahead and do the same thing with the other side.

If you are cutting for a roasted bell pepper recipe then I would only end up cutting them in quarters or halves.

4. Dicing green peppers

dicing the bell pepper

Following the same steps that we did in steps 1,2, and 3 now we are going to pile up or strips so that the ends are all equal. Go ahead and cut through the pile makes the strips into diced pieces.

As I said before depending on what you are going to be using your diced bell peppers for will determine how big or small you want to dice them.

When you cook bell peppers for fajitas you need to realize that they can take some time to cook so the thicker the slices are the longer they will take to cook.

Cutting out the core of a bell pepper can be simple and easy. Cut into the top of your pepper around the stem. Gently twist and pull the top and the core with pull out with the top.

This is a great trick for when you are just coring out your pepper or even for when you are going to slice or dice it. It’s an easy way to get most everything out of your bell pepper including the seeds.

The best way to cut your bell pepper for fajitas is to cut them into 1/4 inch strips. This helps them to cook down and soften the peppers without them becoming soggy as long as you dont overcook them.

Start by cutting off the ends, and then in half. Clean out the white inside and the seeds. Then lay the pepper down and cut it into 1/4 inch strips.
