How to make sweet maple syrup granola
First, before I start cooking I always like to gather my ingredients so that I don’t miss an ingredient while I am cooking and mess up the recipe. Now that you have all of your ingredients you can start cooking!
Mixing
Before you start cooking pre-heat your oven to 315°F and grease your pan with olive oil.
With a light stir, mix together your oats and cheerios until incorporated.
If you do not want to use plain cheerios you can use other kinds such as honey cheerios or fruit flavored, but I recommend using plain.
Also, you do not have to use old fashion oats you can use old fashion rolled oats or rolled oats. But you have to use some type of oats because it is the base of the granola.
Now add in the cinnamon, salt, and pecans and give it a good stir with the other ingredients.
If you love pecans, you should try this toasted pecans recipe!
When I make granola I always like to add my dry ingredients first, then my wet ingredients. It’s time to add your honey and maple syrup to the granola and give it a good mix until it is all incorporated.
Baking
Put the mixture in your cookie sheet pan and spread it out evenly so that it cooks evenly. Put the granola in the oven for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
I use a Breville toaster oven which works well because it’s small so the heat gets trapped inside.
Take your granola out of the oven and let it cool on a cooling rack for about 15-20 minutes. The reason you let the granola cool is so you can get chunks instead of just a whole bunch of oats.

Once it is cool you can scrape it off the pan with a wood spatula and serve it on yogurt or just have a handful, enjoy!
How to store granola
I like to store my granola in the pantry because it is a dry place and is better for the granola than in the fridge, if you put it in the fridge it can get soggy. You can also store it just in a container on your countertop.
You need to put it in a container with a lid. Make sure you keep it out of direct sunlight so that it lasts longer and stays fresh.
How long does granola last
It lasts about a week depending on if you eat it a lot or just have it once in a while, but it stays fresh and last about one month when stored properly.
Also, you can freeze it in an air-tight container in the freezer for about six months. But make sure you get hardly any air so it doesn’t get moisture and prevents mold.
Ways to eat granola
I love eating granola because it is so tasty and there are so many ways to eat it!
First off, I love putting it in my afternoon snacks, with walnuts and chocolate chips. Second, I like having it in my yogurt bowl in the morning for breakfast.
Lastly, it is so good in and with other things like cereal, milkshakes, on top of ice cream, and so much more!
