How to cut cabbage
Learn how to properly cut or shred cabbages depending on what you intend to do with it. Whether it be slicing it for salad, stir-fry or slaws.
- 1 cabbage
- 1 pinch salt optional
Peel off the outer layers that might look wilted or damaged.
Carefully slice the whole cabbage in half through the top and down through the center of the core or stem.
Slice each half in half again the long way making quarters of the cabbage
Remove the core out of the center by cutting at an angle creating a wedge.
Laying each quarter in front of you cut across the grain shredding the cabbage as thick or as thin as you would like.
Add your shredded or sliced cabbage to a bowl of water and mix it around washing off all of the dirt and bugs that but have been between the layers.
Now go ahead and strain it from the water and add it to whatever dish you plan on using it for.
